CAYETANA GUILLÉN CUERVO

He was born in Madrid on June 13, 1969.

At the age of 15 he made his debut on TVE (Spanish Television) with the series "Segunda Enseñanza" and from that moment on he combined his professional activity with his studies. He combines theater, cinema and television with the degree of Information Science (Journalism Branch) and Dramatic Art.

 

PUBLIC CAREER AND TELEVISION

Among the film titles are "Historias del Kronen" by Montxo Armendáriz; "Mas que amor frenesí" by Bardém, Albacete and Menkes; "Atómica" by Albacete and Menkes; "Hazlo por mí" by Ángel Fernández Santos, for which he received the BEST ACTRESS AWARD at the Mostra de Valencia; "La herida luminosa" and "El Abuelo" by the Oscar winner José Luís Garci, the latter nominated for an OSCAR for Best Foreign Film; or "Todo sobre mi madre" by Pedro Almodóvar, winner of an OSCAR for Best Foreign Film.

He creates his first film production company, Violeta Films, with which he produces "La mirada violeta", a film directed by Nacho Pérez de la Paz and Jesús Ruiz, in which Cayetana is the protagonist and co-author of the script. Later on, she begins her second adventure in production, this time in a broader way, with her company MUCHA CALMA PRODUCCIONES, with which she tackles very diverse activities within the world of cinema, television, theater, fashion and communication in general. He has also participated in Ventura Pons' film "Amor Idiota", in which he shares the limelight with Santi Millán and which toured the world at the most prestigious festivals.

His latest forays into the big screen include two short films, "Buen Viaje" by Irene Zoe Alameda and "S.O.S" by Hugo Ruiz, and the film "Una pistola en cada mano" by Cesc Gay, which has been a critical and public success, garnering numerous awards at prestigious international festivals, including best performance for the eleven leading actors at the Miami International Film Festival.

His theatrical experience is very broad. For three years he participated in the productions of the company that his brother Fernando created with the actress Aitana Sánchez Gijón and for one of them, "Entre bobos anda el juego", won the ERCILLA REVELACION DE TEATRO AWARD. He then moves on to the National Classical Theatre Company under Adolfo Marsillach, where he plays Cervantes and Lope de Vega for another three years. Jaime Chávarri stars in David Auburn's text, "La Prueba", with which she is six months successful in Madrid and another half year of tour throughout the country and becomes the protagonist of the theatrical adaptation of "Amar en tiempos revueltos" which she represents with great success for a year and a half on stages throughout Spain.

His latest works in theater also receive critical and public acclaim. On the one hand, "Fuegos", a text by Marguerite Yourcenar directed by José María Pou, premiered at the International Classical Theatre Festival in Mérida and was later performed at the Grec in Barcelona and the San Javier Theatre Festival. And, on the other hand, "El Malentendido", a play in which Cayetana is the protagonist as well as a co-producer with the National Dramatic Center and Pentación, which fills every day at the Valle-Inclán theater to return, months later and after having been a great success in the tour that goes through the main municipalities of Spain, to El Matadero in Madrid.

On television he participates as a guest in numerous informative programs, starring in series such as "Colegio Mayor", "Raquel busca su sitio", "Lobos" and "Amar en tiempos revueltos", and currently and for the last 15 seasons he has hosted the Spanish film program VERSIÓN ESPAÑOLA on TVE, which has become a fundamental reference point for the entire world of culture, and in 2007 was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit for Fine Arts. This is the first time that the Council of Ministers has awarded this prize to a television program, and Cayetana received it personally from the Prince and Princess of Asturias. In 2007 he presented and co-directed the nightly magazine D-CALLE for TVE 2, based on an original idea by Cayetana, and throughout 2008 and 2009 he was also in charge of conducting the mythical news program DÍAS DE CINE. Now he combines the 2 of TVE "Versión Española", with "ATENCIÓN OBRAS", a new cultural news program that covers the current events of all artistic disciplines that are shown in our country.

He combines these activities with his collaboration during seven years with the prestigious journalist Iñaki Gabilondo, for his radio program "HOY POR HOY", in the CADENA SER. Here he deals, among other things, with the cultural issues of the program. In the same channel, he directs and conducts for a few months the MAGAZINE MATINAL, "A VIVIR QUE SON DÍAS".

He writes in publications of high social and cultural prestige such as DIARIO 16 or "EL MUNDO", where he currently publishes an opinion column every other Saturday, interspersing the newspaper's article with that of the BLOG ELLAS of www.elmundo.es. She has collaborated with opinion articles in women's magazines such as WOMAN, MARIE CLAIRE or TELVA, and has also participated sporadically in magazines with a film content such as CINEMANIA or NICKELODEON.
